Direct answer

You can customize Hawks and create fully custom Operators, including appearance, clothing, voice, and name choices. Hawks and custom Operators can choose and change Specializations. Authored Operators have more fixed identities and may have fixed Specializations. EA says the game has no romance and no branching story paths.

What can you customize?

Character typeConfirmed optionsImportant boundary
HawksAppearance, clothing, voice, name, and selectable Specialization. The protagonist remains Hawks and is required for story missions.
Fully custom OperatorsAppearance, clothing, voice, name, and selectable Specialization.Specific creation limits depend on the in-game creator.
Authored OperatorsSome visual and equipment expression may be available.Identity and, for some characters, Specialization are fixed.
Clone armorEA confirms clone armor customization options. This is not evidence that every armor part fits every character.

The official Q&A describes a broad creator but does not support an unlimited “change everything on everyone” claim. The character type is the first boundary to check.

Hawks versus a fully custom Operator

Hawks is customizable but still occupies a fixed narrative function as the company commander and story-mission requirement. A fully custom Operator expands squad expression without replacing that protagonist role. That distinction explains why two characters can use similar creator options but have different campaign ownership.

For Hawks’ starting combat job and the eight available paths, continue to the Specializations owner guide. It keeps class comparison separate from appearance and identity options.

What stays fixed on authored Operators?

Authored Operators are built as named STAR WARS characters with their own histories and characterization. EA Help says some have fixed Specializations, unlike Hawks and fully custom Operators. This page does not infer that a fixed class means every cosmetic, weapon, or progression choice is locked.

See the named first-party roster on the characters and confirmed voice cast page.

Does Zero Company have romance?

No. EA’s official Q&A directly says the game does not include romance. Bonds and relationships between squad members are part of the company layer, but they should not be reframed as a romance system.

Does it have branching story choices?

No branching paths are confirmed—in fact, EA says the story does not branch. Campaign decisions can still affect tactical and management state, but that is different from dialogue routes producing alternate narrative branches or romance endings.

Confirmed Appearance, clothing, voice, and name options for Hawks and custom Operators.

Confirmed Class choice/change for Hawks and fully custom Operators; some authored classes are fixed.

Confirmed absent Romance and branching story paths.
